The Wheel of Light
Monthly Newsletter - March 2007
2006 was a year of squares and oppositions. For many people there were severe and persistent challenges on the inside mirrored by obstructions from without. This year the energy is softening. A good example is a harmonious trine (120 degree angular relationship) between Jupiter and Saturn that will be with us all month. Last year these planets were at odds with each other. Right now, they are in harmonious agreement.
Jupiter and Saturn represent conflicting archetypes. Jupiter symbolizes expansion. This can be expressed through an attitude of joyful optimism in which life is perceived as a marvelous adventure. Jupiter can influence us to open our minds to new cultures or to new horizons of consciousness. By nature it is philosophical, conceptual and idealistic.
Saturn transits point out where work must be done. It challenges us to pay attention to what we are doing in a way that enables us to take responsibility for our thoughts, feelings and actions. Saturn is serious. The more impeccable we are the faster Saturn will help us to feel empowered and in control of our lives. It is extremely pragmatic and focuses on defining and achieving goals
There is always a certain tension in life between enthusiastic confidence and practical caution. It reminds me of an old Jonathan Winters bit about two pilots who are flying a plane that is experiencing some serious difficulty. One pilot keeps saying, "I think we can make it, I think we can make it." While the other intones, "We don't stand a chance."
When they connect in a mutually supportive way, as they do this month, it can bring growth and productivity in several ways. First, they are both transiting through fire signs. Jupiter is going through its home sign of Sagittarius while Saturn is continuing its journey through Leo. This implies that the expressive confidence inherent in these signs is strongly available. We can combine the theoretical understanding of what to do with the practical knowledge of how to get it done. There is also a sense of direction that this trine implies. Jupiter can pertain to visionary philosophy, the ability to see a reality that hasn't yet taken form. Saturn is more oriented toward defining something to be manifested in a way that will have functional benefit. The two working together can create a radiant vision for the future combined with the will and skill to make it happen.
One area that this can be especially useful in is current events. Jupiter pertains to travel and, by extension, international relations. Jupiter is transiting the first house of the United States chart, the area of life that defines who we are as a country as well as how we project that identity to the world. This is a year when we regain our status as global statesman and respected diplomats and leave behind our militaristic, shoot-from-the-hip mentality. Saturn is transiting our eighth house, which involves collective values and financial resources. Saturn in this area would suggest a return to conservative fiscal policies, ones that ensure an economy that provides more stability for more people. This as opposed to the more recent policies of cutting taxes for the wealthy while raising spending and increasing debt. Combining Jupiter and Saturn at this time suggests an attitude (first house) that perceives our finances (eighth house) in a way that can bring a more educated philosophy (Jupiter) about our allocation of resources. A philosophy that is looking at a future that is longer than just the monthly bottom-line. In general, I would assume that our government will create plans and execute policies this month that will meet with consensual agreement among the people and help to generate real hopefulness for our future.
On the personal level, note the houses that these planets are transiting through in your chart. These are the areas where a clear vision of who you want to be and what you want your life to look life in the future can start to take shape. Begin this process with a clear definition of that goal. Follow with a clearly defined strategy, including methodology as well as estimated time of achievement.
The trine between these planets will be highlighted in mid-month as each one receives another supportive trine from Venus in Aries. This combination creates a transiting grand trine in fire signs, a wonderful aspect for achieving your goals with harmony and grace. It offers the possibility to be especially productive in matters involving relationship and the creative arts
Aries (March 21-April 20)
Harmoniously flowing energy in early month helps you connect to others in positive, even affectionate ways. Growth can come from using this potential to refine social skills. Mid-month could bring a shift whereby you feel challenged by external forces, especially those involving friends, children or lovers. Practice applying the qualities of compromise and tact that were prevalent earlier to these situations.
Taurus (April 21-May 21)
This is a good time to be more assertive than you may normally tend to be. You may find that your need for security is enhanced rather than undermined by being more self-affirming in expressing your true ideas and feelings. Changes can be made this month with confidence and clarity about what is important to you now and what you want to achieve in the future.
Gemini (May 22-June 21)
A lot of activity in your public or professional life this month. This is a good time to bring reworked ideas or plans back into the marketplace. This is also a time renew old contacts. Growth for you this month comes from applying your energies within a clearly defined framework that can enable you to be affective without getting over-extended.
Cancer (June 22-July 22)
The full Moon lunar eclipse on the 3rd could bring unexpected or unusual things. One possibility is communication from someone you haven't connected with in a while. Another option is that you could get some clear mental inspiration that could pertain to either your personal or professional reality. The new Moon solar eclipse on the 18th offers an opportunity to create or participate in a significant ritual that could bring beneficial insight spiritually or psychologically.
Leo (July 23-August 23)
Change is the nature of the month for you. Early month could bring some unexpected shifts in your financial situation. It could also bring changes in relationship dynamics that could promote an open, more intimate connection to your partner. Later month could see change more in the realm of ideas. This could be especially significant if you are a student or a teacher. Energies at this time challenge you to understand something at a deeper, more profound level.
Virgo (August 24-Sept 22)
The full Moon lunar eclipse on the 3rd could bring some unexpected changes in relationship. This could involve either challenges from a partner, or realizations on your end about feelings of boredom or abandonment. Growth comes from getting in touch with your feelings first, then being authentic in either communicating or responding from that point to your partner.
Libra (Sept 23-Oct 23)
A truly pleasant period for you. Lots of clarity of what to do combined with an uncommon patience and perseverance that provides the drive to accomplish your goals. Through it all, a sense of humor and an enjoyment of those whom you meet on the journey provide support and enjoyment.
Scorpio (Oct 24-Nov 22)
A potentially confusing time. There could be conflicts with authority figures, especially at work or pertaining to family. This may challenge you to contemplate and possibly transform some old values and priorities. However, you may find support from children or partners that enable you to work through these issues effectively and successfully. Creative expression can be a useful outlet at this time.
Sagittarius (Nov 23-Dec 21)
With spring upon us you may feel a tremendous amount of pent up energy, projects or ideas that have felt blocked or impeded for months, ready to come out. Growth at this time comes from not letting everything out at once. Being methodical may increase the tension in a way, but will ultimately provide the greatest potential for success and fulfillment.
Capricorn (Dec 22-Jan 20)
You may notice anger coming up if confronted by others this month. Growth comes from getting clear about exactly what is pushing your buttons. It may not be obvious and you may be surprised by the results of your research, but it may not be the person or situation that seems to be generating the hostility. Close personal relations could prove valuable allies and sources of support at this time.
Aquarius (Jan 21 to Feb 19)
Lots of vitality and physical energy is available to you all month. Having an aerobic or athletic outlet of some kind can prevent the energy from being used too precipitously or unconsciously and thereby alienating others. This is a good time to deepen or stabilize relationships in all parts of your life.
Pisces (Feb 20-March 20)
The new Moon solar eclipse in Pisces on the 18th provides the opportunity to do some internal research. The main point of focus could involve professional or other types of long range goals. This is not a time to actually make a big change, but it could provide the opportunity to see where you are going in a new way or from a deeper level of awareness.
