As we go deeper into spring, change is accelerating. We discussed this in last month’s column as Uranus, the energy of radical change transited into Aries, the sign of bold and courageous new beginnings. This month Jupiter, the energy of expansion will transit into Aries on the 5th. Usually it takes Jupiter about twelve months to transit through a sign. This year Jupiter entered Pisces in January so it is traveling as fast as it ever does. This rate reflects the general flow of energy this whole year – fast to the point of hectic.
Jupiter can direct its expansiveness in different ways. One is attitudinal. Jupiter is the most positive, joyful, optimistic and enthusiastic of all the planets. In this sense its downfall is a tendency to be too idealistic and excessive in its expectations of life and will frequently feel disappointed. Expansiveness can also pertain to consciousness. Jupiter is open-minded and loves to study and learn. It can enjoy being in school as well as learning independently. It can be interested in learning an academic subject or one that is more oriented to philosophy, metaphysics or religion. Our consciousness can also expand when we travel and Jupiter can focus on that as well.
Jupiter will remain in Aries until September when it retrogrades back into Pisces. It will return to Aries in January 2011. During its time in Aries we could feel enthusiastic about starting a new project, activity or relationship that will open doors of perception and understanding. The transit of Jupiter through Aries implies a wonderful sense of confidence flowing within us that can help us to overcome fears and inhibitions that previously prevented us from doing certain things. For example, if one felt intimidated about being in school, convinced that the necessary intelligence is lacking, this transit could help overcome feelings of inadequacy. Perhaps new types of teaching, learning or even types of schools will be created.
As Jupiter pertains to theology, new concepts that help to understand the nature of life can be theorized. New churches or political parties can come into existence as a result of new ways of thinking or understanding the big picture.
As the energy of travel, Jupiter can also pertain to international relations. Its transit through Aries suggests a new day in this area. Perhaps this will lead to new alliances forming that secrecy and distrust may have prevented in the past. Or perhaps nations will find new, creative solutions to problems that have existed for years. One potential downside of this transit, however, is that Aries can be very opinionated and one-dimensional. It can also be an aggressive, contentious sign. These tendencies and characteristics suggest that this transit could also expand warfare between nations, or simply between people, based on black and white thinking and a superficial understanding of the issues at hand.
Aries tends to be impatient and impulsive. Jupiter transiting through Aries can exacerbate that tendency. Jupiter will also be conjunct Uranus though the summer. My column next month will focus on that aspect. Suffice to say now that we need to develop a deeper sense of patience and watch out for those in our surroundings who are acting out in unexpected and extreme ways. The one-dimensionality of Aries can cause one to assume that he or she is always right. The confidence boosting of Jupiter in Aries can lead one to impetuous actions that can create conflict.
Jupiter and Aries are both honest and adventurous. We can use this transit to enable us to be clearer and more forthcoming in our personal relationships. We can also take advantage of the transit by expanding our world view and diving into a new, exciting endeavor that will enrich and improve the quality of our lives.
There will also be a full Moon lunar eclipse on the 26th in the sign Capricorn. There may be some unexpected events that take place during or shortly after that event. This is a good time to focus on emotional self-awareness and well-being. Try to get a handle on emotional needs that you may have in your most important, personal relationships and then work to fulfill those needs after the eclipse. Being more open, authentic and self-affirming (all good qualities of the Jupiter in Aries transit) can help to bring fulfillment to those needs.
Aries (March 21-April 20)
With Jupiter and Uranus both in Aries you have a wonderful opportunity to explore new parts of yourself and find new outlets for creative expression. Growth at this time, however, comes from working to be more precise, detail oriented and efficient in order to take the best use of the transits.

The full Moon lunar eclipse could bring very deep, intense feelings to the surface. This could lead to either emotional volatility that causes you to feel vulnerable even as others may find you intimidating. Growth comes from being open and honest while simultaneously being selective about who you are opening up to. Your deepest level of emotionality is up this month for review and expression.
Leo (July 23-August 23)
You might feel as if you are being put through an emotional ringer this month. There could be challenges at work or with authority figures that cause you to feel stuck yet anxious for movement and change. There are also some beautiful and delightful spiritual and creative energies that can provide ways out of the interpersonal situations. Growth can come from going within to find transcendent perspectives.

Increase your level of physical activity this month. This could include gardening, working out or being more sexual. Late month could bring situations that cause deep feelings to surface. Growth for you this month comes from dealing with uncomfortable emotional states in deliberate, healthy and appropriate ways. The transit of Jupiter through both Pisces and Aries suggests that this could be a highly productive year for you in several ways. In Pisces, you could find opportunities to expand your consciousness spiritually or by developing intuition. In Aries, Jupiter provides increased physical energy and the willingness to take risks, especially in creative expression and romance.
Capricorn (Dec 22-Jan 20)
Two areas of challenge for you this month. One is your family. Family members could challenge you to be more open and forthcoming with them. The second challenge comes around the lunar eclipse on the 26th.which could bring up emotions you usually don’t recognize. Growth comes from being more authentic in your interaction with others.
Aquarius (Jan 21 to Feb 19)
The push-pull you may have been experiencing for a while could reach new levels of intensity this month and continue through the summer. Many of these challenges require that you are open to changing long held opinions and philosophical points of view. A positive and joyful state of mind can enable you to be more open to embracing others’ ideas than you normally tend to be.
Pisces (Feb 20-March 20)
The transits of Jupiter in Uranus in Aries could cause you to feel energized, exhilarated and enthusiastic. The challenge for you is not to become so blissed out that you are unaware of others’ energy and experiences. If you experience conflict and challenges from others, you may need to be more self-controlled and remember to be more compassionate.
