The Wheel of Light
Monthly Newsletter - December 2006
This has been a challenging year for many people. It began with a grand square involving Saturn, Jupiter, Neptune and Mars. Throughout the year the T-square involving Saturn, Jupiter and Neptune has tested all of us to clarify our values and clearly define our priorities. Working to get centered so that we relate to life in a self-loving way has involved doing a lot of introspective self-analysis. The Saturn-Neptune opposition has created confusion about where we are, as well as how we got here and where we are going. The good news is that, in addition to the growth that these interconnecting energies have produced, the year ends with a very different set of transits. This month as many as seven planets will be transiting through Sagittarius.
Sagittarius may be the most positive, optimistic and joyful sign in the zodiac. It is generous, adventurous and always looking for new things to learn and new ways to expand their consciousness. Sagittarians can have a wonderful sense of humor and are great storytellers. They can be honest and principled to a fault. The downside of Sagittarius is a tendency to be too idealistic, unaware of realistic limits and excessive in their expectations. The planets in Sagittarius this month are the Sun, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Pluto and the Moon, which will be new in Sagittarius on the 20th. Of those planets the most significant one is Jupiter.
Jupiter is the ruling planet of Sagittarius. Signs filter the energy of the planets. So when a planet transits the sign it rules its energy will flow in a comfortable way and can be most effective and productive. Jupiter takes about a year to transit through each sign. It entered Sagittarius on November 23 and will remain there until December 2007. This is especially good news for those of us who have significant energy (such as the Sun) in Sagittarius or Sagittarius rising in our natal charts. Jupiter's presence here will enhance all of the aforementioned qualities, which should be pretty strong in your nature to begin with. It will easier for you to be yourself and feel better about who you are in that process.
On the collective level, these transits could lead to a more dignified, open-minded dialogue among people. This could enhance diplomatic relations between countries in conflict with each other leading to solutions to problems that don't involve war. Hopefully (and Sagittarius is certainly a hopeful sign) this will also lead to more civil dialogue simply in our own country, whether that is on the airwaves or between Congress people who sit on opposite sides of the aisle.
Sagittarius is also the sign of higher education. These transits could suggest an open and on-going dialogue among both educators and laypeople about the condition and direction of our educational system. This needs to happen on both a philosophical as well as a practical level. Sagittarians are seekers. They tend to look to the future and strive to conceive of a vision that will benefit and enhance the lives of others. As such this is a great time for educators to express their ideas and visions about how to fix a system that needs a major overhaul.
As the sign of higher mind, Sagittarius can also be drawn toward religion, theology and metaphysics. Ideally these transits will signal an open minded inquest by people into various belief systems, both their own and that of other people. The past decade or so has seen the rise of religious extremism across the globe. The concepts of love, charity and compassion have been replaced by judgment, sectarian strife and violence. Sagittarius is generous, both in spirit as well as financially, so these transits offer the possibility of getting reacquainted with what really matters and the knowledge of how to get back on the right track in terms of ethics and personal integrity.
Sagittarius is a big picture sign. It's contribution to the human experience is to provide clear concepts, theories and thoughtforms that will enable humanity to grow in ways that are oriented toward the greatest good for the greatest number of people. It is not a particularly grounded or practical sign. Its job is to establish a vision. The implementation of which will be realized gradually over time as we each tap into and understand the vision that can clarify the higher octave possibilities available to all of us.
Aries (March 21-April 20
This is good time to embark on a journey, or at least plan for one in the future. This could be to a foreign country, or to read or take a class about something that is of personal interest. Growth can come from engaging with others in open-minded dialogue and avoiding an overly assertive expression of your own point of view.
Taurus (April 21-May 21)
These transits could impel you to take a look at financial projections for the future. This could either be by questioning what you want your long-range security to look like or by dialoguing with a partner (personal or business) about your common financial goals. Growth comes from clarifying your own values and resources before communicating with others.
Gemini (May 22-June 21)
Contentiousness in personal relationship could peak around the new Moon on the 20th. This month is a time to get things off your chest and out in the open. The ensuring conversations could get heated, but could also lead to increased clarity and understanding between you and others. Growth comes from expressing your truth or points of view without getting preachy or overly theoretical.
Cancer (June 22-July 22)
Communication is the key for you this month. The full Moon in Gemini on the 4th implies inner dialogue. Paying attention to your dreams or journaling can lead to inner clarity and guidance. You could also feel inspired to do some creative writing at that time. The new Moon in Sagittarius on the 20th suggests spending time learning new job skills or expanding the applications of tools and techniques already in use.
Leo (July 23-August 23)
You share many qualities with Sagittarius. You are both playful and adventurous and you both engage life openly and with principle and confidence. You can use the energies of the month to have fun and to be more expressive artistically, athletically or recreationally. This is also a good time to create a more open dialogue with your children. Growth comes from not getting so swept up in the enthusiasm of the activity that you fail to take other's needs, feelings or limits into consideration.
Virgo (August 24-Sept 22)
Conflicts could arise this month that involve your home and family life as well as your job. The former would be most liable to take place around the new Moon on the 20th, the latter around the full Moon on the 4th. Growth comes from not allowing yourself to get so caught up in your head that your endless analysis simply confuses everyone, including yourself. Know when to end dialogue with others as well as how to limit the analytical process. Strive for an understanding of the big picture.
Libra (Sept 23-Oct 23)
This is a good time to get more involved in community activities. Volunteering in your children's school or your local library's literacy program would be both helpful and personally gratifying. Dialoguing with extended family members can help to process and eliminate past problems or simply learn more about yourself by understanding family dynamics better.
Scorpio (Oct 24-Nov 22)
This is a good time to see the inner processing you have been doing this year translate into increased self-value and self-esteem. Feeling better about yourself can enhance your potential to be aware and take advantage of opportunities that can generate more material stability and comfort. Growth comes from interfacing internal clarity with material gain.
Sagittarius (Nov 23-Dec 21)
This month kicks off a year to be open, honest and authentic about who you are. Personal growth could involve anything from traveling to sports to writing. Being centered in these activities can help you to avoid any tendencies to be overly self-involved or unrealistic in your expectations of yourself or others. This is a year to keep busy, but to be selective in what you choose to do.
Capricorn (Dec 22-Jan 20)
Spending time alone this month can enhance both spiritual growth as well as feelings of emotional security and well-being. If your alone time involves any type of spiritual discipline you could experience flashes of clear insight either into your own psyche or your understanding about the spiritual nature of life. That clarity, especially gained in early month, could lead to centered interaction with others later on.
Aquarius (Jan 21 to Feb 19)
This is a good time to discuss and work through issues with friends, colleagues or partners. You may feel as if others are challenging your preconceived ideas but growth comes from responding to those challenges with an open mind. Understanding could arise by simply changing the way you communicate with certain people.
Pisces (Feb 20-March 20)
Career could be a focus for you this month. This is a good time to envision what you want to do and when you want to do it. If you have been doing that type of thinking and planning for a while, this is a good time to take action to manifest it. If things don't happen right away, be patient. The next year could bring some nice opportunities. Don't feel as if you have to take the first one, especially if it really isn't what you want.
